Distinguished visitor at JOSEPHS: The Bavarian Minister of State for Digital Affairs, Judith Gerlach, informed herself about various aspects of digitisation in rural areas and digital innovations. Prof. Dr. Kathrin M. Möslein, Vice President Outreach of FAU, and Prof. Dr. Albert Heuberger, Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, presented current research results and projects to the Minister.

Rural areas in Germany are facing a number of challenges due to current demographic changes. In particular, digitization offers great potential for maintaining services of general interest and making rural areas more attractive again as living and working spaces. Read more…
