New research unit “Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering” strengthens AI health node Erlangen

On May 1, 2020, FAU founded its own department for research and teaching of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of health at its Faculty of Technology under the name Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering (AIBE). The university is thus using the professorships it has been awarded in the framework of the High-Tech Agenda Bayern to strengthen the AI health node in Erlangen for a very decisive piece of university innovation: it is abandoning the classic chair structure. Thus, FAU creates the best conditions for internal exchange and cooperation.

Close interdisciplinary cooperation with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine is particularly important. The professorships work along the three defined research areas “Human Processes”, “Data, Sensors and Devices” and “Medical Robotics”. Read more…
