Application instructions for the MA Digital Humanties

Are you interested in the Master’s program Digital Humanities? Here you will find information about your application and the admission requirements.

The programme always starts in the winter semester (application deadline 15.07.).

 

In order to be admitted to the Master’s degree programme in Digital Humanities, students must have completed a subject-specific or -related undergraduate degree.
  • A subject-specific degree is a Bachelor’s degree in either Digital Humanities and Social Sciences, in Digital Humanities, or in Digital Social Sciences. Applicants with a subject-specific degree graded 2.50 or above shall be admitted directly to the Master’s degree programme. Applicants with an overall grade of 2.51 to 3.75 shall be admitted after successfully completing a selection interview.
  • Other Bachelor’s degrees shall be recognised as being subject-related provided they include a minimum of 25 ECTS credits in computer science and 25 ECTS credits in the humanities or social sciences. In this case, applicants have to successfully complete a selection interview and have a total grade no lower than 3.75.

For admission to the Master’s programme, you need proof of a degree at the Bachelor’s level. The application for the Master’s programme Digital Humanities is made via campo – the application portal of the FAU. The application documents must be submitted online and by post by July 15th. Applicants have to prove English skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, unless their undergraduate degree was taken in English. Proof of language proficiency can be submitted up until the start of the third semester. If applicants have not completed a degree or their A-Levels in Germany, they must prove that they are proficient in German, at least to level DSH2.

International applicants must also apply via campo – FAU’s application portal.

Campo will prepare an admission application based on your details. In it you will find an overview of the documents to be submitted. The application documents must be submitted online and by post by 15 July. The postal address of the Master’s office is:

Foreign certificates must be presented in a certified copy and certified translation (if they are not issued in English, French or German). If your documents do not correspond to the form or if important documents are missing, we will unfortunately have to exclude you from the procedure. The Master’s programme in Digital Humanities is taught in German and English. German is the language of instruction at the FAU, therefore corresponding language certificates are indispensable for the admission to FAU studies.
