Professor Sabine Pfeiffer, head of the Department of Sociology with a focus on Technology – Work – Society, is concerned with the transformation of work through digital transformation. She researches how work and organizational processes are changed by the new technology, how the interaction between technology and work is shaped and what consequences this has for employees and the company. After all, medicine does not take place in a vacuum, and hospitals and care facilities are also work organizations. This is often overlooked in the debate, but is of immense importance for the usefulness of technology and its consequences.

Her thesis: “Healing is more than a one-time diagnosis with a decision on therapy, but a complex work process with many participants, different stages and changing needs. Artificial intelligence can provide selective support, but cannot replace this complexity”. Read more…
