Dr. Axel Adrian is honorary professor at the chair for criminal law, criminal procedure law and philosophy of law. One of his scientific focal points is Legal Tech and the use of AI in law. In an interview, he explains the significance of these developments for everyday legal life.

Mr. Prof. Adrian, you are intensively involved with Legal Tech. What does Legal Tech stand for? What exactly is it ?

The word is composed of legal services and technology. Since the beginning of the legal tech hype in Germany in 2015, the attempt has been made to simplify and improve legal service processes with the support of modern computer technologies, but also to change the legal business model, in particular to scale up and open up new sources of income.
